Loving someone forever isn't that easy, loving without expecting anything in return is quite difficult.

isn't it?
Not always, getting addicted to alcohol and smoking aren't ways of showing love. Yes you can love someone forever, no matter if they love you in return or not. Yes you can show your love just silently praying for them instead of losing your life in alcohol, drugs or smoking.
"Kya mai Ashiq hu" is such a poem which explains feelings of the unrequited love or one sided love.

नशा तो नहीं करता हूं ,
ना ही मैंने नसे काटी है
क्या मै आशिक़ हूं?

रोता नहीं हूं सबके सामने ,
नहीं ही जताता हूं इश्क़ सबके सामने,
क्या मै आशिक़ हूं?

खामोशी से अकेले कभी अश्क बहा लेता हूं
छुपके से अकेले में कभी दुआ कर लेता हूं
क्या मै आशिक़ हूं?
